Richard Williams walks unapologetically in the compelling 78 page vision (he wrote before the sisters were born) and conviction of knowing that his two youngest daughters would change the entire trajectory of tennis sports for a lifetime. It was so powerful to see the faith he had come alive with their works. No matter how many times they were rejected, their father rerouted their greatness. Richard Williams unapologetically laid the foundation of Black Girl Magic decades before it became a hashtag through ensuring each of his girls had a relationship with God and were academically strong-all of the sisters were at the top of their class and Venus and Serena spoke 4 languages. I loved how the movie showed the silent strength of their mother and how she played a major role in their athleticism and training in tennis. I absolutely loved how the family navigated as a unit and they didn’t rush any decision or contract-they consistently chose mission over money. At age 14, Venus was offered $3 million by Nike the night before playing in her first professional game and she turned it down. As an avid tennis watcher, it was great to see how Venus was the sister who was molded to be #1 and how Serena developed behind the scenes of her shadow. Their parents and siblings organically ensured that both sisters felt and understood their greatness. There is a powerful scene in the movie where Richard affirms Serena’s greatness privately. He told her that Venus would be #1, but she would be the greatest of all time. Ultimately, almost every word he spoke over their lives became flesh. Overall, the movie is a grand slam and every actor aced their role. Go watch and let me know what you think! ♥️👏🏽🎾<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhefKdOHcD2tzo6rtLzJxtV4KMGdyZzAlov_nPoEm1YOVg9Fpu4ppS5wr9ryv49STxAJVNlOdO4z2-vhwpdJ0JYQ3-i_yz2lQeKSza6eFVGoCRJf0F00nhNmNDAcNNnk0ecsuHF5Yg5IAY/s1557/0F311929-03C3-4CFF-B6C6-C21ED467F879.jpeg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1557" data-original-width="981" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhefKdOHcD2tzo6rtLzJxtV4KMGdyZzAlov_nPoEm1YOVg9Fpu4ppS5wr9ryv49STxAJVNlOdO4z2-vhwpdJ0JYQ3-i_yz2lQeKSza6eFVGoCRJf0F00nhNmNDAcNNnk0ecsuHF5Yg5IAY/s320/0F311929-03C3-4CFF-B6C6-C21ED467F879.jpeg" width="202" /></a></div><br /><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><span style="text-align: left;"><br /></span></div><p></p>Krystal Austin Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04638994914429954238noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5070067018303635782.post-59680865777929270282020-07-01T04:19:00.000-07:002020-07-01T05:02:03.808-07:00Mid-Year Checkup ✅<div class="p1" style="-webkit-text-size-adjust: auto; font-size: 22px; font-stretch: normal; line-height: normal; margin-bottom: 3px;">

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i>Proverbs 4:7, "Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom. And in all your getting, get understanding.</i></b></div>
<br />
Hello there! It has been a while since I've blogged, but I'm back and I'm building. I turned 35 this month (May 10) and as the day neared I asked friends for sage advice on reaching this milestone. I also googled wisdom for 35-year-olds and nothing truly resonated with me. I've learned along my journey that often times our INstinct is the INformation that we are seeking. Perspective wise, 35 is the halfway mark to 70, and others define it as 5 years from 40. Either way, it's movement and milestone.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQGTL2vkbnWd5LJhanRdp6Wa1BX_wJrKWWKnNmAfmKeT_XX-LAV6iJbmM2TQVAp3gXQlcIrgCimHjQBILG9OIeFqEnux0xhfXC-4ydqN10HIbMhgvkTRRp81gsuaLkXDCLkz7F46OrcVk/s1600/B0D628BA-A707-49A8-BC01-EBBA78D9E537.jpeg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" data-original-height="1210" data-original-width="1242" height="311" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiQGTL2vkbnWd5LJhanRdp6Wa1BX_wJrKWWKnNmAfmKeT_XX-LAV6iJbmM2TQVAp3gXQlcIrgCimHjQBILG9OIeFqEnux0xhfXC-4ydqN10HIbMhgvkTRRp81gsuaLkXDCLkz7F46OrcVk/s320/B0D628BA-A707-49A8-BC01-EBBA78D9E537.jpeg" width="320" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
Here are a few lessons I've gleaned from my 35-year journey around the sun...<br />
<br />
1. People will only respect you at the level in which you require.<br />
(Frustration is the byproduct of lack of communication. People will only operate at the level of expectation that you have set for them to operate within. Nothing more.)<br />
<br />
2. Your success is in Your surrender.<br />
(God will allow your gift to make room for you once you become present.)<br />
<br />
3. There is good in the good-bye.<br />
(Unequally yoked goes beyond marriage-it extends to family and friends as well. You will never become better until you receive clarity on who doesn't want you to be your best.)<br />
<br />
4. Navigate from a Kingdom mindset with your finances.<br />
(The Bible says that the poor will be with us always, but Jesus didn't say we had to be in poverty always. Operate from the mindset of biblical stewardship (God is a supplier of NEED) and delegate every dollar in decision and discipline. Restore your financial dignity in your early years to ensure no lack in your latter times.)<br />
<br />
5. Forgive Fast<br />
(Forgiveness is truly the gift you gift yourself. Operate from the intention of people can't give you what they don't have and never assume the depth of anyone at any time.)<br />
<br />
6. Let peace be your bottom line.<br />
(Peace is only valuable to those who operate in it and desire it. Let peace be the bottom line in every decision you make.)<br />
<br />
7. Trust your intuition.<br />
(The Holy Spirit is Holy and is the internal GPS that will always navigate you back to God. The Bible declares in Ecclesiastes 3:11, that God has placed eternity in our hearts, except that no one can find out the work that God does from the beginning to the end. Find solace in knowing that no matter how far you get away from God, He is always there.)<br />
<br />

Kindle afresh the gift of God which is in you. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
2 Timothy 1:6</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Welcome to the second quarter of 2019! I pray this new shift and season finds you in great health and wealth as your soul continues to prosper. Spring is not only a time of physical cleansing but also fiscal cleanup. I encourage you to take inventory of your life- spiritually, emotionally, physically, financially and the people who are connected and vested in your life. Springtime is a great focal point to rid yourself of anything that is not conducive to your growth and overall well-being. In the realm of your spiritual well being, consult with God concerning His plans and assignments for your life. I've learned from my personal pursuits that our calling is consistent while our assignments can be seasonal. What worked for you spiritually at the beginning of this year may not align with what you feel led to do in this season and that is absolutely okay. Don't stay uncomfortable because it was once comfortable. Fasting may have been what you felt led to do in the first quarter, but studying the Word and increasing your prayer life could be what is necessary for this quarter.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Emotionally, invest in self-care and activities that bring your soul solitude. Find mechanisms and paths that give you space to navigate your thoughts in a peaceful, productive and professional manner-whether it is counseling, small groups through a local church or simply journaling. From experience, I personally would admonish that you unplug from technology periodically to reconnect to what needs your connection. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Physically, spring is the perfect time to visit your doctor for wellness checks and to become intuned with nature after enduring the winter season. Particularly, African-Americans should take full advantage of getting some much needed sunlight because of the wide-spread Vitamin D deficiencies that the bulk of us unfortunately genetically endure.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Lastly, do a fiscal checkup of your financial health. Get clear on where you are and where you desire to be at the end of this quarter. What areas of your financial life require management and maintenance? Always remember, every dollar you earn and possess should have a job and it should be protected under the spiritual covering of the Kingdom. Lastly, it's not what you make, it's how well you manage what you make. </div>

3 John 1:2, "Beloved, I pray that in every way you may prosper and enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Happy 2019!! I pray this message finds you in great health and wealth as your soul continues to flourish throughout this new year! We entered 2019 under unforeseen circumstances-including a governmental shutdown that was the longest noted in our American history. Although we are facing unparalleled levels of uncertainty economically and it seems as if the foundation of our country has failed its inspection, continue to trust God, stay focused and keep your mind on God. Isaiah 26:3, is a constant reminder of the benefits that come with keeping our focus on God. He keeps those in perfect peace whose minds are steadfast on Him because they trust in Him. As you navigate through the many chapters of 2019, stay committed to each page of your process. We will experience ebbs and flows, but we have a solid assurance of knowing WHO controls the waves. As always, below I will provide tips on how to make the most of your new year. </div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
1. Create Strategies and Set Systems to ensure the order and organization of your days.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
2. Write down daily, weekly, and monthly goals and review them daily to hold yourself accountable.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
3. Get clear on what is coming in and going out financially. It's not what you make, it's how you manage what you make.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
4. Don't dismiss discernment. Dismissing the Voice of God will cost you in every area of your life.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
5. Always remember your WHY and stay focused on it no matter WHAT. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">

There were so many hidden gems in this movie that I unearthed, but the ones that stood out to me among the many were the homage to our ancestors, the deep devotion and consistent commitment to family and culture, the flow of order with the man being the headship and the journey of two men whose fathers had deeply impacted their future. <div>
Black Panther's homage to our ancestors was intertwined throughout the movie from the beginning to the very end. It powerfully sent the resonating message that we are who we are because of who they were. In reference to commitment to family and culture, the movie did an amazing job of conveying the need and power of a man leading his kingdom in order and the success that comes as a byproduct of male leadership and structure. T' Challa's father said it best, "A man who has not prepared his children for his death has failed as a father." I also loved how Black Panther showed the navigational journey of two men and how the presence of a father laid the foundation for one son and the absence of the other's father led to his inevitable failure.<br /><div>
The timing of Black Panther's release was impeccable and rejuvenated a fire in me concerning where I come from and gave me an eternal hope concerning the direction I am going. I absolutely loved the theme of #BlackLove and how the movie so powerfully conveyed the love, adoration and honor that Black women have for men who sincerely love them and respect them. What spoke to the depths of my heart was how the movie allowed its audience to see a Black woman speaking life into the darkness of her soulmate's heart. One of the most touching scenes was Nakia telling T'Challa "You define the King you will become." It is my hope that through these healthy depictions of authentic love, as a culture we start to redefine who we are to each other and what we can become to the next generation. In the words of Nakia, "Wakanda is strong enough to protect itself and help others."</div>

Isaiah 43:19, "See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do yo not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland."</div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Blessings and Happy New Year!! By now mostly everyone has settled into 2018 or at least began the process of living your best life in this new season of your life. As you move forward in the affirmations, vision boards, resolutions and plans you have positioned in strategy, be mindful of being realistic and ensure that everything you are preparing to pursue is measurable. Many people go into a new year sincerely expecting newness and change, but we forget to insure that the foundation of the outcomes are staged from a place of long-term devotion and effort. While working on my Master's, we learned a term called "incremental steps," meaning that true change and big results are birthed through small steps. In life you can't get everything over night, but you can receive some things over time. I admonish you to receive this and remember this as you focus forward in your 2018 endeavors. God is truly doing a new thing in your life and as He springs up insight, wisdom, and blessings upon you, pray that He gives you the clarity to understand it and discernment on how to handle it-overflow can't be truly appreciated until one has an appreciation of their wilderness seasons. Here are a few pearls to cling to as you navigate through 2018...</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
</div>
<ol>
<li style="text-align: left;">Go with God and allow Him to order your steps.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">When you make mistakes, allow them to develop you not demote you.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Be okay with pulling away. Everybody isn't worthy of having a seat at your table.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Always see GOD in the BAD.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Your goals should be measurable and create a time frame for accomplishing them.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Your cash should reflect your character. Be a good steward of your resources.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Unapologetically choose you and what works for you.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Schedule your Schedule.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Create goals and plans monthly, quarterly and yearly.</li>
<li style="text-align: left;">Trust and treasure your instinct. </li>

<b><i>Galatians 2:20, "I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself up for me."</i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b><i><br /></i></b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>Easter season is the most wonderful time of the year for me because it is a delegated time that we collectively position our sight on the Cross and our minds on the ultimate sacrifice that Christ gave for us to receive eternal life. As a child, the sacredness of the season did not resonate with me. Like most children, I was excited about getting my hair done, getting an Easter basket and a very expensive dress that I wouldn't wear again. As a matured believer, the weight of the day and the message of the Cross holds a special place in my heart. I find great joy in delivering the Message of the Cross to not only those in my women ministry, but to the people I meet along my journey. The Message of the Cross perspective will be translated differently through each of our personal experiences with God, but the overall theme is the same. Jesus hung, was crucified, bled and died for us and those who came before us and who will come after us. He looked beyond us and became a part of us. So as we commemorate the crucifixion and ultimate resurrection of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, take some time to tell someone about the goodness of the Lord and the sacrifices of Jesus. No matter what Cross you are having to endure in this season of your life, know that just like Jesus' Cross it's only temporary. The ultimate message and measure of the Cross is that whatever we go through is always only temporary, but the harvest of the Cross is eternally.</b></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<b>God bless you and may His grace continue to shine upon you! </b></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
"For I know the plans I have for you," declares the Lord, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."</div>
<br />
Happy New Year!! What an exciting time to be alive in the land among the living! There are so many milestones we collectively as a country are embarking upon and if we are to put our best foot forward, it is imperative that we plan our 2017. There is a powerful creed that is often quoted, "When we fail to plan, we plan to fail." I am a firm believer that an organized life results in an overflow life. In all things, the Bible declares we are to do them decently and in order and that God has full knowledge of the plans He has concerning our lives that yield prosperity, hope and an expected outcome. With that being said, here are a few tips that I believe can assist you in ensuring that your New Year be better than your last year!<br />
<br />
1, Ask God what He believes for your life and what the plans are concerning your life.<br />
2. Ensure that the goals you have set are measurable and realistic.<br />
3. Create consistency by investing in a planner and organize it accordingly.<br />
4. Schedule all health appointments in January for the year for you and household and ensure the offices have accurate information on file to contact you prior to your appointment date.<br />
5. Get clear on the revenue that is coming in your home and what amount is going out so that you can strategize on how to stay afloat throughout the year.<br />
<br />
I pray these tips are helpful and help create harmony in your life in this new season of your life! I would love to hear from you on how you are strategizing to have a better and blessed year! Leave your nuggets in the comment section. Have a blessed week and a prosperous New Year!<br />

The entire weekend was magical ,full of love and Southern sophistication! What I love about Megan and Drew's wedding was how they both collaborated and compromised on the date and details of their special day. #FutureSouthernBrides In order to protect your peace and to ensure that your groom and his company are happy, always plan your wedding on a by-week for your favorite football team or follow Megan's lead and have the game playing in the groomsmen rooms while they are getting dressed with plenty of snacks for them to enjoy. #YouGoGirl </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">What I love about Megan's planning of her wedding was how she consciously considered the cost of her wedding over the class of the wedding. Our beautiful navy couture bridesmaids dresses were from #BellaBridesmaids in Mobile, Alabama and because of excellent execution in planning, we were given a very reasonable time to save for the costs of the dresses and were afforded perks for ordering early. We adorned our dresses with rose gold jewelry and Megan gave us the option to wear comfortable taupe shoes so that we could fully embrace every experience of the day! </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> Now go with me as I take you on a journey to relive the visions of love from Megan's special day. </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">Beginning with the rehearsal dinner on the day before, the wedding party was served a full spread Southern style dinner that consisted of steak, potatoes, a garden salad, corn on the cob, shrimp and a delicate vegetable stir-fry followed by hot peach cobbler for dessert (delish)! Upon arrival to the rehearsal dinner, each bridesmaid was gifted with a beautiful rose gold bracelet and a framed picture of a special memory that we each shared with Megan. We were serenaded by a local talent guitarist and his wife and Megan honored us with her musical gift of song by singing a classic, "When the Right One Comes Along." </span><br />
<span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;"> On the morning of the Hodges' big day, the wedding party had fellowship and breakfast in the guest house on the property of the venue. We partook in Chick-fil-A chicken biscuit bites, fruit trays, cheese trays and my favorite mimosas! We had such an amazing time catching up and sharing our memories of childhood, college experiences, motherhood, careers, and the #2016Election. I thoroughly enjoyed hearing diverse perspectives from Megan's Maid of Honor Shelley from Australia and Ellen from New York. Upon the time of the wedding, Megan and Drew did a "First Look" (a moment between the bride and groom before the ceremony) and there were no dry eyes to say the least! I was not open to the concept but after witnessing it, my heart is open to the collaboration. The wedding was held at dusk behind the venue in a mystical wooded area clothed with oak trees, lights and southern style benches for the guests to witness the union. The pastor opened the ceremony so beautifully by telling the bride and groom and guests about the sacredness of marriage and how the wedding finger is the only finger that has a vein that goes directly to the heart (how amazing is that)!! I also loved how the pastor was attentive to details and perfectly intertwined Megan's love for Harry Potter by ending the ceremony with a quote from one of the novels, " You are protected, in short, by your ability to love." What a beautiful way to end a beautiful day! </span><span style="font-family: "georgia" , "times new roman" , serif;">The wedding reception was nothing short of amazing! Guests were treated upon arrival to Southern sweet lemonade, an open bar, sounds from an amazing band called "The Shade of Giants" and a Southern Style BBQ and Fish Fry all in one beautifully decorated barn! We indulged in prime rib, fried catfish, grits and mashed potato bar, salad, cheese, fruit tray, and squash casserole. After a full night of festivities, Megan and Drew spent a few days of restoration at one of Baldwin County's historic and beautiful venues, "The Grand Hotel" where they enjoyed a Sunday brunch and all of the amenities that the gift of love affords. </span><br />

This election has been extremely discomforting and painful to watch play out at times to say the least. The uncertainty of American families' stability and health have been on edge and friendships ultimately shattered because of differences in ideology and how one perceived their candidate of choice from their frame of reference. Secretary Clinton was crucified for emails and her actions while serving as Secretary of State and to add insult to injury, the reputation of her husband and his past was brought back into the forefront as a weapon to cripple her. President Elect Trump on the other hand ran a not so traditional election with what many perceived to be divisive rhetoric, racism, sexism and an elitism attitude. Nevertheless, our country has spoken in record numbers and the masses believe that Trump is the better candidate to move our country forward. In the days ahead, it is imperative that we filter our emotions in a respectful and healthy manner whether they are of excitement or discouragement and extend grace to all mankind. Let us not become entangled in emotion and may we dismiss distractions and anything that comes in any form to rob us of our peace. As we shift into a new year with a new president, let us pray fervently for healing upon our land and continue to do what we can with what we have. I leave you with an excerpt of President Obama's speech concerning President Elect Trump's victory... "We are now all rooting for his success in uniting and leading this country. The peaceful transfer of power is one of the hallmarks of our democracy."<br />

We hear of bullying often, but it hits home when it reaches your home. Kenzie has been dealing with bullying for a few months and we assumed it was "kids being kids," but over time it progressed severely and the aftermath of her mentally trying to filter and process the negativity overwhelmed her. Nobody desires or expects the call of your child being overwhelmed with grief and despair, but it happens. As a mother, I questioned my mothering skills and inability to see the weakness in a daughter who walks in such strength. How do you protect a child from the reality of the reality of not only her generation but the world collectively? How do you instruct a child to not return negativity to the culprit who disarms it without reproach? How can you explain to children that what they see adults play out on a national stage in the daily highlight reels of television, politics, news, in sports, etc... is unacceptable publicly although it is deemed acceptable socially... As I sat there in the residue of her pain, I consulted God for wisdom on how to assist her through this storm. I share with you what I shared with Kenzie..."As long as you live, people will always seek wrong in you even when what you are doing is right. Always remember that you are fearfully and wonderfully made by God and hold on to the truth of who you are no matter how many lies they tell about you. Never apologize for being great. " Remind your children and all those in your sphere of influence to not internalize the jealousy of others and to always take the high road, no matter how lowdown they get. Remain blessed:))<br />

Jason and I had the privilege of taking a road trip to see my brother and his family in July. The Bible reminds us in Proverbs 30:25 that the ant prepares for the winter in the summer. With that being said, we planned strategically on one income in advance with incorporating coupons for restaurants, we purchased our snacks at my favorite place in the world #Dollar Tree and we purchased gas using fuel points. Another traveling nugget we discovered was to bring coins for toll bridges and to get the free fuel point cards that gas stations in other states offer to new customers. In terms of traveling with money, we each carried a portion of cash and we only kept a small balance on our debit cards just in case heaven forbid we lost them or they were stolen. Upon our arrival into Chicago, we were engulfed with the dynamic melting pot of culture, food, and most importantly HISTORY! Our first day was spent touring the University of Chicago, famous architecture sites such as "Ebony" headquarters and an exhibit of the Great Migration of African-Americans from the South migrating to Chicago. I had a moment when I saw the Ebony building because my grandmother was a faithful subscriber and I grew up reading all of their issues. Such a special moment! The evening of our first day was spent on an architecture boat tour throughout the entire city where we had an architect retiree lecture us on every building on Lake Michigan. It was absolutely breathtaking and we were blessed to tour it for FREE! #Favor The next few days were spent attending the famous #TasteofChicago (taste-testing all of the local shops and restaurant foods) for very reasonable prices! My favorite foods were the #Giordano Pizza, jerk chicken and funnel cake. Delish! Throughout the week, we toured the exclusive malls and shops on Michigan Avenue and famous food places such as, Maxwell Street Polishes, Garrett's Popcorn and Harold's Fried Chicken. We also toured exclusive high risers and attended our very first #WhiteSox game! The people were very friendly and had a captivating contagious spirit for their love of Chicago. Having the privilege of staying in #HydePark we were in walking distance to President and First Lady Obama's home as well as the homes of Muhammad Ali, Louis Farrakhan, and Roebuck (co-founder of Sears and Roebuck) who I also discovered was a Black man! We also saw Jennifer Hudson's home and Oprah's high rise building where she lived during her time in Chicago. We visited the beautiful famous landmark Navy Pier where my brother treated us to a two hour yacht tour and party on Lake Michigan that took us throughout the city at sunset! Our final days were spent eating and did I say eating...LOL and spending time with my sweet nephew Jameson and their neighbors who were also from the South. We ended the week in worship at </b><b>New Life Covenant Church with Pastor John Hannah. I encourage you all to travel as your schedule permits and your finances allow. It was such an amazing trip and a lasting experience! To sum up my experience, Oprah Winfrey penned it best, "My first day in Chicago...I set foot in this city, and just walking down the street, it was like roots, like the motherland. I knew I belonged here."</b><br />

We are living in perilous times where the people's hearts towards God has shifted to despair and destruction. When acts of terror and everyday discretion towards humanity takes place, we ponder the question, "What would make a person do such a thing?" The lack of God on the inside shows the manifestation of Satan on the outside. In times such as these, it's quite easy to want to dismiss the destruction as a hopeless situation that we have no power to control or prevent in future occurrences, but let us hold fast to the Word of the Living God. God has and will always be faithful and the beauty in the ugliness of destruction is He will establish us and guard us even in the midst of trouble from the evil one. Although the events that have taken place locally and globally throughout the nations have been tragic and disheartening, there is still some GOD to be found in the BAD. Events such as Paris, gives us insight on how we can refortify our walls from the enemy, how to restrategize security measures and strengthen high traffic locations of vulnerability throughout the nations. Many lives were sacrificed, but ultimately more lives will be saved from the ashes of this disheartening event. May our hearts be softened towards each other and ultimately towards humanity after the residue of this heartless event has ceased. Apostle Paul said it best, "Now may the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the patience of Christ" (2 Thessalonians 3:5).</div>

<div style="text-align: left;">
Blessings!! The holiday seasons are approaching us once again and the anxiety and pressure of trying to keep up with our perception of those who are ahead is contaminating our perspectives of what the season is truly all about. I challenge you in your thinking, spending habits and in your personal life to redefine what Thanksgiving means to you and how you display your personal beliefs to the world. In 2 Corinthians, the Apostle Paul challenges us to not class ourselves or compare ourselves with others because the aftermath leads to us not walking in wisdom. The danger in comparing your seed to someone else's harvest is you don't know if what you perceive as a harvest as being an actual harvest or the fruits of someone behind the scene labor. Everyone who appears to be rich are indeed not wealthy. A person who appreciates every blessing is indeed a wealthy individual. As Thanksgiving approaches, let us be mindful to not only be thankful, but to give liberally. A person who has an attitude of thankfulness often have giving at the core of their service. Re-establish tradition this year to ensure you are not only speaking thankfulness. but are living in a spirit of thanksgiving not just seasonally, but daily. As a child, we song a song in the youth choir called "Count your blessings." The lyrics stated, "Count your blessings, name them one by one, count your blessings to see what the Lord has done!" I admonish you to count your blessings on today, you too would be amazed to see what the Lord has done not only in you, but with you. Have a blessed harvest season and remember that God doesn't run low in resources, He has enough supplies available to fulfill each of our needs.</div>

From the age of 5 years old, going to worship in the House of The Lord has been one of my most sacred experiences. I found great joy on Saturday evenings getting my attire out for my grandmother to "press" for Sunday morning worship. The Church has historically been the hallmark not only for African-Americans, but for most Americans. The tragic events that transpired at Mother Emanuel in Charleston, SC, was the culmination of hatred and pure ignorance. With all that has happened, as followers in faith, let us not allow the act of one person to define our relationship with God. He is still all knowing and encompassing. He is not responsible for what happened, but He will hold those who did it accountable. Stay grounded in your faith and in the author and finisher of your faith. </div>

I said farewell to my 20s without knowledge of knowing that I would not experience my 30's without the woman who I have loved with every fiber of my being my entire life-my GRAND-MOTHER Emma. The greatest gift I received on Mother's Day-30th birthday was her singing Happy Birthday to me. 3 days later I was left in pieces seeking peace. As you go through life, if you're not willing to grow through living it can be difficult to understand God's peace that surpasses all of your understanding. I've learned through this season, that nobody is immuned to pain and suffering and weeping may only endure for a night-God has ordained joy for every person who loves Him. No matter what you've experienced in this season of your life know that your best days are your ahead days. Go in peace and grow through the pieces!Krystal Austin Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04638994914429954238noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5070067018303635782.post-74544395085349795212015-03-07T20:51:00.001-08:002015-03-07T20:51:22.576-08:00#Selma50<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

Today our nation commemorated the 50th anniversary of Bloody Sunday in Selma, Alabama. 50 years seems so long ago, but in retrospect it is still freshly painted on the hearts and minds of those who fought for us to be treated as full fledged citizens in contrast to a portion of what the Constitution deemed African-Americans. As we progress forward, it is my fervent prayer that we redeem ourselves and the upcoming generations by renewing our covenant with God, our households and communities in terms of walking in our integrity and being fully involved in our homes. I often try to calculate the depth of pain and embarrassment our elders endured and suffered for us to just be counted as present in a nation that didn't desire to recognize our presence. I find it absolutely amazing to fathom that the same omnipotent God the elders, leaders, and protestors called on is the same God who answers us-isn't that beautiful?! We owe it to them and to ourselves to march on daily in our personal journey of greatness. I leave you with the words of the leader of the movement, Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. "<span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);"><span style="text-align: left;">Everybody can be great...because anybody can serve. You don't have to have a college degree to serve. You don't have to make your subject and verb agree to serve. You only need a heart full of grace. A soul generated by love.”</span><span style="text-align: left;"> </span></span>Krystal Austin Moorehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04638994914429954238noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-5070067018303635782.post-81565634417151708972015-02-28T18:52:00.000-08:002015-02-28T18:52:07.751-08:00Black Her-Hi(STORY)<br />

February has been a month of reflection and revelation for me in more ways than one. I had the honor to honor ordinary people doing extraordinary things in their communities and some globally. The common fabric that I discovered interwoven amongst all the honorees was God. Like our ancestors, God continues to be a very present help. I encourage each of you to continue to strive for excellency everyday of your life and be the change you desire to see and be. When you get the opportunity, write your own bio and give yourself a high five for how far you've truly come! There still remains progression to be made, but we are on a really good path. May the words of James Weldon Johnson leave you with a renewed strength:</div>

As the month of January culminates, I pray you take some time to really get to the core of what you want and why you need it. We often get so caught up into the future that we forget to relish in our present. There's beauty and blessings all around us if we take the time to make time for what truly matters. Devote some time each day to glean from the Word, listen to the birds, or savor your sip of coffee. Delighting yourself in The Lord produces not only true peace , but aids in God guiding you to the things that your soul truly desires. Take some time to enjoy the view and see your heart the way God sees you. Be blessed and be a blessing! </div>

Like many of my sisters across the nations, I watched Lifetime's "With this Ring." The movie started out with a statistic stating that 1 out of 2 black women will not marry. This statistic is alarming, but it doesn't make it an emergency. Society pressures women to have the ring, the home, the children and be financially stable by the age of 30. These expectations have left many of our sisters alone with the feeling that they have to do it on their own. Love is an emotion and shouldn't be made a demanded expectation. The bible makes it clear, love should not be aroused nor awakened until it so desires. A woman doesn't have to make herself available for love, just remain accessible to being loved. Focus on you and God will bring him to you in time at the right time! Be blessed:))</div>
